History

In 1994, following a clear mandate from the Lord, Roger and Lorraine Hagen planted The Mission Fellowship. For the first two years, Team Missions, an itinerant ministry group, came and helped with the church plant. The Lord called the Mission Fellowship to worship, warfare, healing, deliverance, missions and to be a 'house of prayer' to see Nelson saved and serve the King wherever and in whatever way He requires.

THE MISSION FELLOWSHIP

The Mission Fellowship is non-denominational and relates with churches of all denominations. We encourage the whanau in The Mission to be kingdom minded and to support, help and build up the body of Christ across the city.

The Mission is a pioneering/prophetic/warrior church, focused on what the Holy Spirit is doing today and wants to do tomorrow. The church is run on a seven week focus period. On the seventh week, all mid-week cell groups and prayer meetings are canceled. We spend that week seeking God's direction for the next seven week period. This helps to keep our hearts set on pilgrimage (Psalm 84).

Everyone in The Mission is expected to participate in the life and work of the church i.e. cell groups, prayer meetings, Sunday meetings, prayer for the sick, etc. We know that we have not already attained all the Lord has for us, nor are we yet made perfect, so we are pressing on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus has taken hold of us (Phil 3.12).

Leadership

Lorraine Hagen, David and Nina James head up the Apostolic Team. They are responsible for the vision, direction and government of the church. Working with them are a team of pastors who support, love, encourage, feed and guard the people.

6 KEYS of CHURCH LIFE

WORSHIP

The Lord is worthy of all our worship. We desire above all else to be a fellowship who worship and honour God with all that's in us, therefore worship is a major focus of our Sunday meetings.

WARFARE

Over many years the Lord gave Roger and Lorraine strategies and keys to battle powers and strongholds over churches, cities and nations.  There are weekly prayer meetings for the city, nation and nations where training is provided to raise up prayer warriors.

HEALING

1 Peter 2:24 says "By His wounds you have been healed", therefore our goal is to walk in divine health and equip every Christian to pray for the sick (Mark 16:16-18).  Prayer for healing is an integral part of our meetings.

DELIVERANCE

The casting out of demonic spirits was a major part of the ministry of Jesus, then the disciples and then the early Church.  We believe it is a part of the job description for every believer in the church today (Mark 16:17).

MISSION

Teams are regularly sent out to Central Asia, Europe, India and the Pacific for short-term missions.

PRAYER

We take seriously our responsibilities in prayer to provide prayer cover for each other, the church in Nelson, the community, the government, the nation and nations as we endevour to fulfill God's call to be a 'house of prayer'.

Purpose, Passion & Vision

To share the good news of Jesus whenever and wherever we can.

To have unity and open-hearted fellowship among us.

To train up our children and youth to be men and women of faith and integrity.

We acknowledge the great diversity of gifting in God's people and recognize that these gifts have innumerable ways to express the Lord's love, nature and plan.  Therefore our aim is to help release every believer to be who God intended them to be and not some thing forged out of who the leadership are.

To ensure every person has been discipled in the ways of the Lord and then trained and equipped to operate as servants of the King.

WHAT we BELIEVE

the BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and that none may add or take away from it.

the TRINITY

We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and these three are one God.

the CHURCH

We believe that the Church consists of all persons who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and made new people in Christ Jesus.

the SAVIOUR

We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that through the death and risen power of Christ, all who believe and confess Jesus as Lord can be saved from the penalty and power of sin.

the HEALER

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the healer and that healing is provided for in the atonement.

the BAPTISER

We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Baptiser in the Holy Spirit, and that this baptism with signs following is a promise for every believer.

the COMING KING

We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to receive to Himself all born again believers.

the GIFTS

We believe that the Church should claim and express the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.
